LIDO continues its transition to barn-raised eggs
LIDO has fulfilled its publicly stated commitment and, as of May 2025, has fully completed the transition to fresh barn-raised eggs—our restaurant chain now uses only these eggs.
“A sustainable and responsible approach to food selection is one of LIDO’s top priorities. We are consistently working to use products in our restaurants that meet increasingly higher animal welfare standards, which is why we are continuing the transition to cage-free egg products. This process is gradual and is closely linked to the structure of supply chains, technological requirements, and the supply available in the Baltic market,” says Rita Auziņa, Chair of the LIDO Board.
At the same time, significant changes are taking place in the egg production sector. Producers are investing in new production capacity and gradually reducing the use of cage-laid eggs, creating favorable conditions for the transition to higher animal welfare standards in processed product categories as well.
Given market trends, LIDO’s goal is to complete the transition to barn-raised eggs in the egg products segment by the end of 2027.
The company keeps abreast of industry developments and continues to work closely with suppliers to ensure a responsible and gradual transition, while maintaining stable product availability and providing cost-effective solutions for LIDO guests.
